Some things to consider:
1. Coordinate, don't match.
Try choosing 2-3 colors and coordinate those colors within the group. If everyone matches, this takes away from your individual personalities and makes the photos less interesting.
2. Accessorize.
Jewelry, scarves, hats, flowers in a little girl's hair, vests, sweaters and jackets can take your photos to the next level. Accessories are another way to add color, interest and individuality.
3. Shoes Matter.
Avoid wearing overly casual shoes, such as everyday tennis shoes or flip flops. When you wear flip-flops, your feet tend to get dirty in all the walking around during a session, and tennis shoes may also make your photos look out of balance. For instance, if you have picked out your nicest top and jewelry, but then throw on your 3 year-old Old Navy flops, it just won't look put together. Always remember to include your shoes in your outfit planning. This leads me to my next suggestion:
4. Bring travel shoes.
Most sessions involve a little walking around, so make sure that if you chose your favorite stilettos for the session, you also pack some travel shoes. This is a perfect time to break out the Old Navy flops! Reducing the ache on your feet will make your photography session much more enjoyable.
5. Dress for the weather.
If you have scheduled a late November session, and it's 40 degrees outside, you will probably be uncomfortable in your sleeveless sun dress. Plan your outfits so that you can be as comfortable as possible - this way you can really enjoy yourself!
6. Be you!
Pick an outfit that truly reflects your personality and style. This makes the session so much fun and your photos will be uniquely YOU.
